Kathleen will team with Paraic McGlynn, who will continue his role as the SICI Director of Applied Cycling Science and the Serotta Fitllab and David Ariosa, owner of Oakley Cycles in Cincinnati and founding board member of the Davis Phinney Foundation, who will serve as Director of Finance.

Kathleen's love affair with cycling has spanned nearly two decades, first as an amateur triathlete, road racer and time trialist, then later as a specialist in bike fitting and custom bike sales. She has performed over 2500 bike fittings since 1996, became a Serotta Advanced Bike Fit Specialist in 2002 and has served as a core instructor for SICI since it's inception.

As a founding member of the The Davis Phinney Foundation, she has chaired the Foundation's signature event, The Sunflower Revolution Gala and Ride, which has raised nearly one million dollars for Parkinson's Disease research and wellness over the past five years.

Kathleen plans to continue to serve on the Davis Phinney Foundation's Science Advisory Board and serve as the Senior Fitting Specialist for Oakley Cycles in Cincinnati, Ohio.

"I am pleased and excited to assume the role of SICI Executive Director. We have planned a full schedule of classes for 2009 including new offerings specifically tailored for medical professionals. I particularly look forward to our fall Symposium, an exceptional educational opportunity for retiailers, health professionals, coaches, scientists and a showcase for cycling industry vendors.

Coached by Kathy Krumme (Oakley Cycles), Jennifer Smith of WLWT, and Megan Whitt of Starfire Council, the Starfire Stars team handily completed 50 miles each day of the MS 150. Team members, Chad Diemling and Jeremy White belong to Starfire Council, a fantastic organization that helps folks with disabilities become vital members of their community. Oakley provided Chad's spiffy Starfire Blue Trek 820, as he had completely worn out his old bike!
It was a glorious weekend and we were proud of our rock Stars as they rode past MANY folks who walked the arduous climbs, practiced flawless group etiquette and paceline skills and kept us smiling for 100 miles. Our team won the "Most Inspiring Team" and deservedly so, as Chad and Jeremy changed many lives on that ride with their charisma,courage and determination. Bar none, it's the best ride I've ever done. Crossing the finish line with my amazing team was a moment I'll never forget. Look for us next year, upping the ante to 75 miles per day! Our parking lot is now paved!!! At long last the improvements to the lot behind our building are complete!

You may enter our lot from either Observatory Avenue or Edwards Road. There are two spots reserved for Oakley Cycles. You may park in any non-reserved space in the lot during our normal business hours.

There is also plenty of on street parking in the area. Observatory Avenue is restricted from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on weekdays only. For May 2010, we are raising awareness for the Cincinnati Starfire Council. Starfire enables individuals with disabilities to become active and vital members of the community. Since 1993, Starfire has offered innovative programs that address the emerging needs of teens and adults with disabilities. Kathy trained and led Chad and Jeremy to complete the MS 150 Ride last year in conjunction with Starfire. Oakley Cycles has pledged to donate one percent of our sales from the month of May to Starfire.

There will be a presentation on the City of Cincinnati's Master Bike Plan at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 3400 Michigan Avenue, on Thursday May 20th at 7:00pm. The bike plan provides the long term vision for development of a citywide bicycle network. Melissa McVay, project director, will be the guest speaker.
